SEND & EHCPs
Many pupils at The Tutorial Foundation have Education, Health and Care Plans.
We use EHCP outcomes, professional advice, family input and our own assessment information to shape support around each young person. Our approach is personalised, practical and responsive, with support planned around each pupil’s strengths, barriers, needs and aspirations.
SEND support is not separate from everyday school life. It is built into teaching, pastoral care, routines, communication, interventions and wider provision. Staff use adaptive teaching, reasonable adjustments, visual supports, structured routines and individual strategies to help pupils access learning and develop independence.
Where a pupil requires more specialist support, we work to put this in place as part of their individual provision. This may include targeted interventions, adapted resources, sensory or therapeutic approaches, specialist equipment, external professional input or specific adjustments linked to their EHCP outcomes and presenting needs.
We also place importance on identifying barriers to learning early. Staff work closely with the SENCO, families, local authorities and external professionals so that support can be reviewed, adapted and strengthened over time.
Our learning environments are developed with accessibility, engagement, independence and emotional regulation in mind. We aim for classrooms and shared spaces to be calm, organised and supportive, with resources and adaptations that help pupils participate, build confidence and make progress.
Our aim is to help pupils access learning, develop independence, build confidence and make meaningful progress towards their individual outcomes.
