Attendance & Expectations
We know that many pupils who join The Tutorial Foundation may have experienced barriers to attendance, engagement or confidence in education.
Our approach to attendance is supportive, consistent and relational. We want pupils to build positive routines, feel safe coming into school and understand the importance of regular attendance for their learning, wellbeing and next steps.
Attendance and punctuality are promoted through clear routines, communication with families and support from the pastoral team. Where a pupil is finding attendance difficult, we work to understand the reasons behind this and agree appropriate support.
This may include regular communication with parents and carers, individual attendance planning, pastoral support, adjustments to help pupils settle, liaison with local authorities or involvement from external professionals where needed.
We monitor attendance carefully so that concerns can be identified early. Our aim is not simply to record absence, but to help pupils overcome barriers, rebuild confidence and develop the routines they need for school and adult life.
We also have clear expectations around behaviour, respect and participation. Pupils are supported to understand routines, make positive choices, repair relationships where needed and contribute to a calm and safe school environment.
