Our students enjoyed a fascinating, and at times, spooky trip to Chislehurst Caves where they enjoyed learning about the caves’ role in the First and Second World Wars. First as a munitions factory and then becoming an underground town as the largest deep air-raid shelter outside London, protecting over 15000 people every night during the Blitz. We also found out they were used to grow mushrooms and in the 1960s, they were used as a concert venue for really famous acts such as David Bowies and the Rolling Stones. Wow!
