Physical Education curriculum
Summary:
Physical Education (PE) is offered to all students at KS3 and KS4 level and is delivered once a week in accordance with government statutory requirements.
Teaching/Delivery:
Teaching and coaching is provided by trained and experienced Tutors. Local facilities are used, including; a Tennis Club and Mytime Leisure Centre which cater for the specific sport or activity. Students are provided with safety talks, activity demonstration/coaching and have free time to practice with their peers. All activities encourage fairness and respect through peer group work. The overall aim to develop personal fitness and promote a healthy lifestyle.
KS3 & KS4 Sports/Activities:
Selected from the Government National Curriculum, include:
- Football
- Squash
- Tennis
- Cricket
- Badminton
- Gym: workout/training sessions
*all weather dependant
Extra-Curricular:
Extra-Curricular sports opportunities are offered to students who wish to represent the school. Students are invited to participate in a yearly Kent Cricket Competition in addition to a whole school Sports Day held at an external venue in the summer term.
Assessment:
At both KS3 & KS4 students are not assessed but are observed on their effort and application to the activity, with targets are set to further develop their skills and ability.
